Expert: USMCA energy dispute panels may be in limbo
The USMCA trade dispute launched in July 2022 by the US and joined by Canada over alleged anti-competitive policies enacted in Mexico’s energy sector looks to be in limbo. Back in October 2022, after the close of the consultation period, industry insiders then told Miranda Intelligence they saw the placement of formal dispute panels as likely with potentially tens of billions of dollars in damages at stake. But with May ending, the panels are nowhere closer to fruition.
