IN FOCUS THIS WEEK
• Mexico’s Plan Sonora – to convert the north-western state into a renewable energy hub with the development of lithium mining powered by state-run solar energy projects – is picking up steam with two new investments announced last week towards the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries. The larger plan looks to attract foreign investment to build out the end-use side of the lithium supply chain, including battery manufacturers and electric (EV) automakers.
