A handful of non-controversial but encouraging agreements have emerged half-way through the January 9-11 North American Leadership Summit (NALS), or “Three Amigos” gathering, in Mexico City.

The leaders also agree to expand critical minerals mapping in all three countries considering the special materials required for computer chips, as well as for lithium needed in rechargeable batteries. They also committed to coordinate development of a region-wide standard for EV charging stations and agreed to reduce methane emissions from the solid waste and wastewater sector by at least 15% by 2030 from 2020 levels.
