Bank of Mexico unveils P2P transfers
The Bank of Mexico (Banxico) made known that it is working on a telephone number-basedmoney transfer platform, not unlike the popular U.S. platform Venmo which is owned by PayPal. Banxico’s platform known as DiMo, will encourage the unbanked to open bank accounts by directing them to platforms to open digital bank accounts to receive money sent to them by other users. Let us hope DiMo is more successful than the Central Bank’s underwhelming CoDi initiative. Additional details are expected to be released during the 86th National Banking Conference on March 16 and 17th in Mérida.
