The MXN/USD exchange rate closed at 17.09 pesos to the dollar on August 10 down from its close of 17.32 pesos on August 3.
The Mexican 10-year bond (2031) closed on Thursday with a yield of 9.007%, up from a yield of 8.992% on August 3.
The FTSE-BIVA Top Stock Gainers for the week were: QUALITAS (+8.95%), MEGACABLE HOLDINGS (+7.69%) and ALSEA (+6.48%) and the Biggest Losers were: INBURSA (-5.37%), NEMAK (-4.76%) and FIBRA DANHOS (-3.11%).
CORPORATE & MARKET NEWS
Metalsa, the metal manufacturer for the automotive industry, announced an investment of US $180 million in the development of a new plant in Guanajuato. This will create 1,000 jobs and produce more than 3,000 chassis per year.
Fibra Macquarie, the real estate investment trust, has begun the construction of a new industrial park in Tijuana, Baja California. It will invest US $90 million, and the first building should be completed in the first half of 2024.
The Mexican administration purchased the Mexicana de Aviación trademark for P$815 million. The newly established government-run airline will be under the management of the Ministry of Defense (Sedena) and plans to lease 10 Boeing planes starting in September.
